Mechanistic Insights into the Electrocatalytic Hydrogenation of Alkynes on Pt-Pd Electrocatalysts in a Proton-Exchange Membrane Reactor

Shuji Nogami et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the electrocatalytic hydrogenation of alkynes using Pt-Pd electrocatalysts in a proton-exchange membrane reactor. The active sites on the Pt-Pd electrocatalysts are identified through detailed characterizations, and the roles of Pt and Pd metals in the reaction are clarified through voltammetric studies. A synergistic mechanism of electrocatalytic hydrogenation is proposed.

Electrosynthesis of Phosphacycles via Dehydrogenative C-P Bond Formation Using DABCO as a Mediator

Yuji Kurimoto et al.

Summary: The first electrochemical synthesis of diarylphosphole oxides (DPOs) was achieved under mild conditions using commercially available and inexpensive DABCO as a hydrogen atom transfer mediator. The procedure resulted in moderate to good yields of various DPOs and can also be used for the synthesis of six-membered phosphacycles. Mechanistic studies suggested that the reaction proceeds via an electro-generated phosphinyl radical.
