Ultrasonic horn contact-induced transient anharmonic resonance effect on vibro-thermography

G. Kolappan Geetha et al.

Summary: In this study, new insights are presented into the spatial localization of anharmonic caused by impact-separation contact dynamics in a cavity-like feature. Different nonlinear anharmonics are identified using various models and simulations, revealing that super-harmonics and sub-super harmonics are generated when the target structure resonates precisely and with a slight mistuning, respectively. The response amplitude and energy in the primary excitation frequency are reduced due to energy partitioning, and the ratios of Power Spectral Density (PSD) of anharmonics to that of primary excitation decrease linearly and quadratically with decreasing separation distance and relative amplitude, respectively.

Crack segmentation through deep convolutional neural networks and heterogeneous image fusion

Shanglian Zhou et al.

Summary: In this research, a DCNN-based crack segmentation methodology is proposed, leveraging heterogeneous image fusion to reduce image-related disturbances and mitigate uncertainties through cross-domain feature correlation. Experimental results show that the "extract-fuse" pattern used in the DCNN, exploiting the fused raw image, achieves the most robust and accurate crack segmentation performance.

Automated pixel-level pavement distress detection based on stereo vision and deep learning

Jinchao Guan et al.

Summary: An automated pixel-level pavement distress detection framework integrating stereo vision and deep learning is developed in this study, which establishes multi-feature pavement image datasets based on a multi-view stereo imaging system and proposes a modified U-net deep learning architecture introducing depthwise separable convolution for efficient crack and pothole segmentation. The results show that the 3D pavement image achieves millimeter-level accuracy, and the enhanced 3D crack segmentation model outperforms other models in terms of accuracy and speed, enabling high-precision automated pothole volume measurement.
