Gamma-Ray Spectral Properties of the Galactic Globular Clusters: Constraint on the Number of Millisecond Pulsars

Wei Wu et al.

Summary: The study suggests that most of the gamma-ray spectra of 30 globular clusters can be explained as emission from millisecond pulsars, with some exceptions. Additionally, in some nearby globular clusters with high encounter rates, there may be millisecond pulsars associated with gamma-ray sources.

Detections of Gamma-Rays from Globular Clusters ESO 452-SC11, NGC 6380, Palomar 6 and UKS 1 with Fermi-LAT

Min Yuan et al.

Summary: In this study, the events from 157 globular clusters were analyzed using 12 years of long-term data from Fermi Large Area Telescope. Four additional gamma-ray GC candidates in the Milky Way were detected, enriching the list of previously reported clusters. Despite the absence of pulsars in radio and/or X-ray wavelengths, no gamma-ray pulsation emissions or significant flux variability were found. The estimation of millisecond pulsars within these clusters provides valuable insights into the nature of gamma-ray emission origins for globular clusters.

Summary: This study used the upgraded Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope to search for pulsars in globular clusters and observed these clusters to obtain radio images. A new pulsar was discovered and a timing solution was derived for the system. Several unidentified radio sources were also detected.

Incremental Fermi Large Area Telescope Fourth Source Catalog

S. Abdollahi et al.

Summary: An incremental version (4FGL-DR3) of the fourth Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) catalog of gamma-ray sources is presented, which contains 6658 sources based on the first 12 years of science data. The analysis improves on the previous catalog by introducing better spectral parameterization for pulsars and extending the spectral points to 1 TeV. Updates are made to the spectral parameters, spectral energy distributions, and associations for all sources.

Evidence for a high-energy tail in the gamma-ray spectra of globular clusters

Deheng Song et al.

Summary: Millisecond pulsars are likely the main source of gamma-ray emission from globular clusters, with the emission consisting of two components: an exponentially cut-off power law and a pure power law, the latter being interpreted as inverse Compton emission by cosmic-ray electrons and positrons injected by millisecond pulsars.

Accurate distances to Galactic globular clusters through a combination of Gaia EDR3, HST, and literature data

H. Baumgardt et al.

Summary: Accurate distances to Galactic globular clusters are derived by combining data from Gaia EDR3, HST, and literature. Different methods show good agreement in average distances at a level of about 2%, with distances to 162 clusters determined and about 20 with an accuracy of 1% or better. The implications of these distances for the local Hubble constant are discussed.

The MAVERIC Survey: Simultaneous Chandra and VLA observations of the transitional millisecond pulsar candidate NGC 6652B

Alessandro Paduano et al.

Summary: Transitional millisecond pulsars are pulsars that switch between rotation-powered millisecond pulsar state and accretion-powered X-ray binary state, considered as an evolutionary stage between neutron star low-mass X-ray binaries and millisecond pulsars. NGC 6652B, a low-mass X-ray binary in the globular cluster NGC 6652, is observed to display prolonged X-ray flaring behavior and variable optical spectra.
