Observations with the Southern Connecticut Stellar Interferometer. I. Instrument Description and First Results

Elliott P. Horch et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the design, construction, and operation of a new intensity interferometer and presents detailed observations made with the system. The results show that the instrument is capable of detecting correlations from unresolved stars and determining baseline lengths. Based on these observations, estimates of angular diameters for certain celestial objects are obtained.

ASTRI Mini-Array core science at the Observatorio del Teide

S. Vercellone et al.

Summary: The ASTRI Project led by INAF is developing the ASTRI Mini-Array, a small telescope array consisting of nine telescopes similar to ASTRI-Horn. The Mini-Array will surpass the current Cherenkov telescope array's sensitivity and extend the energy band well above hundreds of TeV.

Stellar intensity interferometry of Vega in photon counting mode

Luca Zampieri et al.

Summary: Stellar intensity interferometry is a technique that measures the second-order spatial correlation of light emitted from stars to determine the angular size and structure of the emitting source. An experiment at the Asiago Observatory in Italy successfully detected the temporal correlation of Vega at zero baseline and measured the correlation on a projected baseline of around 2 km, with a signal-to-noise ratio of greater than or similar to 4. This experience will help with future implementations of stellar intensity interferometry on long-baseline arrays of Cherenkov telescopes.

Radius measurement in binary stars: simulations of intensity interferometry

Km Nitu Rai et al.

Summary: Mass and radius measurements of stars are crucial for stellar structure models, especially in the case of binary stars where astrometry and spectroscopy can provide important data. This study focuses on simulating parameter recovery from intensity interferometry for binary stars, exploring different methods for disentangling the radii of two stars from their combined signal. Measurements of angular radii, angular separation, and first-order limb-darkening are achievable for bright binary stars with current instrumentation.
