Safety of Small Circular Staplers in Double Stapling Technique Anastomosis for Sigmoid Colon and Rectal Cancer

Summary: The study aimed to compare the safety of using 25-mm circular staplers versus 28/29-mm staplers in the double stapling technique anastomosis for colorectal cancer patients. The results showed that there was no significant difference in anastomotic strictures and other complications between the two sizes of staplers.

Intestinal mucosa staple line integrity and anastomotic leak pressure after healing in a porcine model

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the integrity of intestinal mucosa staple lines and anastomotic leak pressure in a porcine survival model. The results showed that the leak pressure on day 0 was associated with the integrity of the staple lines, but there was no correlation at two days or more postoperatively.Histological findings in both groups showed similar healing at postoperative days 2 and 7.
