Classification of rotator cuff tears in ultrasound images using deep learning models

Thao Thi Ho et al.

Summary: This study developed an automated classification method for rotator cuff tears and provided visualization of tear location using deep learning algorithms and ultrasound images. Among the five pre-trained models, DenseNet121 demonstrated the best classification performance, confirming the feasibility of using deep learning and ultrasound images to assist in diagnosing rotator cuff tears.

Quantitative Analysis of Dynamic Subacromial Ultrasonography: Reliability and Influencing Factors

Che-Yu Lin et al.

Summary: This study developed a quantitative analytic model using dynamic ultrasound imaging to assess subacromial motions and examined their reliability and potential influencing factors. The results showed that the vertical acromiohumeral distance is the lowest in the abduction phase and full-can posture, and the rotation angle of the humeral head has the potential to serve as a new parameter for the evaluation of SIS.

Deltoid muscle contribution to shoulder flexion and abduction strength: an experimental approach

Andreas Hecker et al.

Summary: The deltoid muscle shows a linear contribution to maximal shoulder strength depending on the abduction or flexion angle, ranging from 24% in 0 degrees to 75% in 120 degrees of abduction and from 11% in 0 degrees to 70% in 120 degrees of flexion, respectively. The overall contribution to abduction strength is higher than to flexion strength.

Acromiohumeral distance and supraspinatus tendon thickness in people with shoulder impingement syndrome compared to asymptomatic age and gender-matched participants: a case control study

Donald J. Hunter et al.

Summary: Individuals with shoulder impingement syndrome tend to have larger acromiohumeral distance (AHD) and greater supraspinatus tendon thickness (STT), suggesting that symptoms may be more related to an increased STT.
