Nanostructured Bulk Titanium with Enhanced Properties-Strategies and Prospects for Dental Applications

Agata Sotniczuk et al.

Summary: This article summarizes several strategies proposed in recent years to optimize the properties of nanostructured titanium products for dental applications, including bulk modifications, surface modifications, and deposition of bioactive coatings. Additionally, insights are provided on how changes in microstructure induced by the fabrication of nanograined Ti can be successfully exploited to improve surface properties.

Texture-Governed Cell Response to Severely Deformed Titanium

Daniel Wojtas et al.

Summary: The study described the superior biological behavior observed in titanium processed by hydrostatic extrusion, where the (10 (1) over bar0) crystallographic plane favored endothelial cell attachment on the surface. Additionally, enhanced albumin, fibronectin, and serum adsorption, as well as directional growth of cells with preferentially oriented cell nuclei, were observed on surfaces with predominantly exposed (0001) planes.

Effect of extrusion ratios on hardness, microstructure, and crystal texture anisotropy in pure niobium tubes subjected to hydrostatic extrusion

Jongbeom Lee et al.

Summary: The study found that the grain size of Nb tubes decreased and the proportion of LABs decreased after hydrostatic extrusion, with no proportional relationship to the extrusion ratio. The relationship between grain size and hardness followed the Hall-Petch law and was not affected by the extrusion ratio. The increase in extrusion ratio led to changes in the grain orientation structure of Nb tubes.
