Defect engineering technique for the fabrication of LaCoO3 perovskite catalyst via urea treatment for total oxidation of propane

Chao Feng et al.

Summary: In this study, a defect engineering strategy was employed to enhance the performance of perovskite catalysts for propane oxidation. The urea treatment method resulted in the generation of defects and high-valence surface-active Co species, increasing the utilization of Co active sites. The LaCoO3-D43 catalyst exhibited superior catalytic activity and thermal stability. This work provides a defect engineering strategy to effectively activate perovskite catalysts and can be applied to other types of perovskite catalysts fabrication.

Formaldehyde Oxidation over Co@N-Doped Carbon at Room Temperature: Tunable Co Size and Intensified Surface Electron Density

Dandan Zhu et al.

Summary: The development of transition-metal nanocatalysts with precious-metal-like ability is crucial for complete mineralization of formaldehyde (HCHO) at room temperature. In this study, a series of N-doped carbon encased metallic Co (Co@NC-x) nanocatalysts were fabricated to explore the effect of the Co particle size on HCHO oxidation for the first time. The findings show that a special Co@NC structure could supply an electron-rich surface, facilitating adsorption and activation of O-2.
