Improving photocatalytic activity of the ZnS QDs via lanthanide doping and photosensitizing with GO and g-C3N4 for degradation of an azo dye and bisphenol-A under visible light irradiation

Ali Reza Amani-Ghadim et al.

Summary: Inserting Gd ions into the crystalline lattice of ZnS quantum dots (QDs) enhanced their photo-catalytic activity. The influence of graphene oxide (GO) and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) on the photocatalytic activity of the ZnS QDs was also investigated. The results showed that the presence of Gd-doped ZnS QDs/g-C3N4 nanocomposite achieved the highest photocatalytic degradation efficiency and total organic carbon removal.

Construction of Novel Metal-Free Graphene Oxide/Graphitic Carbon Nitride Nanohybrids: A 2D-2D Amalgamation for the Effective Dedyeing of Waste Water

Kasirajan Prakash et al.

Summary: A novel metal-free graphene oxide/graphitic carbon nitride 2D/2D hybrid heterojunction was developed for the efficient removal of hazardous organic contaminants under visible light. The enhanced photocatalytic activity was attributed to the proficient separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs and the tuned band gap with unique morphology. This metal-free hybrid heterojunction photocatalyst shows promising potential in wastewater treatment.

2D Heterostructured Nanofluidic Channels for Enhanced Desalination Performance of Graphene Oxide Membranes

Yuying Wu et al.

Summary: Adding g-C3N4 sheets into GO membranes to establish stable and sub-nanometer wide channels can significantly improve salt rejection and water permeance. Experimental and theoretical studies have shown that size exclusion is the main mechanism for high rejections, while the ultra-low friction water flow along g-C3N4 sheets enhances permeation. Additionally, the GO/g-C3N4 membrane exhibits promising long-term, antioxidation, and antipressure stability.

Enhanced cocatalyst-support interaction and promoted electron transfer of 3D porous g-C3N4/GO-M (Au, Pd, Pt) composite catalysts for hydrogen evolution

Wei Li et al.

Summary: The construction of a 3D porous g-C3N4/GO skeleton aided by graphene oxide, with the immobilization of precious-metal cocatalysts, significantly enhances the photocatalytic hydrogen production under simulated solar light. The improved anchoring stability of cocatalysts and increased active sites due to electron acceptors contribute to the enhanced performance of the resulting 3D p-CNG-M composite catalysts.

Photocatalytic activity enhancement of carbon-doped g-C3N4 by synthesis of nanocomposite with Ag2O and α-Fe2O3

Ali Reza Amani-Ghadim et al.

Summary: A carbon-doped g-C3N4 (CGNS) nanocomposite with Ag2O and alpha-Fe2O3 was synthesized to enhance the photocatalytic activity for Acid Red 14 (AR14) degradation. The nanocomposite showed improved performance in the visible-light absorption range and effectively suppressed charge carrier recombination, leading to stable photocatalytic efficiency. Studies on scavengers revealed the influential role of superoxide anion radicals in AR14 degradation compared to hydroxyl radicals and holes, indicating the potential for practical applications.
