Band-gap engineering, magnetic behavior and Dirac-semimetal character in the MoSi2N4 nanoribbon with armchair and zigzag edges

A. Bafekry et al.

Summary: Motivated by the successful formation of the MoSi2N4 monolayer, this study investigates the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of MoSi2N4 nanoribbons for the first time. The study reveals an indirect to direct bandgap shift and a Dirac-semimetal character in certain edge configurations of the nanoribbons. These findings provide insights into the physical properties of nanoribbons and open up new possibilities for next-generation electronic devices.

Magnetic Order and Symmetry in the 2D Semiconductor CrSBr

Kihong Lee et al.

Summary: The discovery of ferromagnetic ordering in monolayers of CrSBr, as well as the antiferromagnetic coupling in multilayers, highlights the unique magnetic properties of this 2D material. The Neel temperature of CrSBr increases with decreasing layer number, setting it apart from other 2D magnets. These findings introduce CrSBr as an exciting 2D magnetic semiconductor with potential applications in magnetic-electronic coupling and toroidal moments.
