Assessment of biomass briquette energy potential from agricultural residues in Cameroon

Bill Vaneck Bot et al.

Summary: Biomass briquettes made from agricultural residues should be recommended for household cooking in countries with high agricultural potential. This paper evaluates the energy recoverable from crop residues by briquette manufacturing and analyzes the benefits and barriers of briquetting conversion in Cameroon. The results show that the availability of agricultural residues in the country provides an important potential for briquette production, with an annual energy potential of around 106 PJ.

Second-generation ethanol process for integral use of hemicellulosic and cellulosic hydrolysates from diluted sulfuric acid pretreatment of sugarcane bagasse

S. R. Dionisio et al.

Summary: This study proposed a strategy to promote ethanol fermentation by utilizing fermentable sugars from sugarcane bagasse. Through acid pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis, ethanol yield was increased significantly, with a substantial increase in ethanol productivity observed in continuous fermentation cycles.

Preparation and characterization of biomass briquettes made from banana peels, sugarcane bagasse, coconut shells and rattan waste

Bill Vaneck Bot et al.

Summary: The study prepared biofuel briquettes from banana peels, rattan waste, coconut shells, and sugarcane bagasse using a conventional method. Proximate analysis showed differences in properties among the residues, with banana peels and sugarcane bagasse having higher losses, while bulk density and calorific values varied.
