Performance enhancement of hydrogen liquefaction process via absorption refrigeration and organic Rankine cycle-assisted liquid air energy system

Ahmad Naquash et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the design and analysis of an integrated liquid hydrogen production process. By integrating an absorption refrigeration system, liquid air energy storage system, and organic Rankine cycle, the process aims to achieve energy efficiency and waste heat recovery. The results show that the liquefaction section is the most energy-intensive part, and multi-stream heat exchangers contribute significantly to exergy destruction. Economic analysis reveals that compressors and multi-stream heat exchangers are the major capital investments.

Conceptual design, modelling and optimization of an integrated system by combining Organic Rankine Cycle and absorption refrigeration cycle for efficient energy recovery

Tian Zhou et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new cascade method to improve power generation utilizing low-grade waste heat and optimizes the key parameters of the system. The results show that the proposed system performs best at a refrigeration temperature of 2 degrees Celsius and can increase the net electricity generation by 28.3% compared to the conventional ORC system.

Thermoeconomic analysis of a novel combined cooling, heating and power system based on solar organic Rankine cycle and cascade refrigeration cycle

Zeinab Aghaziarati et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a solar organic Rankine cycle integrated cascade refrigeration system to meet a hospital's heating, cooling, and electricity demands, and analyzes the system from energy, exergy, and exergoeconomic point of view. The solar collector is identified as the main source of irreversibility, and factors such as working fluid, collector type, solar irradiation, and ambient temperature are investigated for their impact on system performance. The study concludes that cyclohexane is more efficient from energy and exergy perspective, while octane is more efficient from an exergoeconomic point of view.

Multi-objective optimization and thermo-economic analysis of an enhanced compression-absorption cascade refrigeration system and ORC integrated system for cooling and power cogeneration

Xiaojing Sun et al.

Summary: This study proposes an enhanced CACRS-ORC integrated system for better utilization of waste heat for cooling and power generation. Through a multi-objective optimization method aiming to minimize the total annualized cost (TAC) and total exergy destroy (Extotal destroy) simultaneously, the optimal configuration and operating parameters of the integrated system are determined. Sensitivity analysis also reveals the impact of key parameters on the structural configuration and thermo-economic performances.

Heat Exchanger Network synthesis considering prohibited and restricted matches

Bohong Wang et al.

Summary: This study introduces a method based on the Advanced Grid Diagram to optimize Heat Exchanger Networks (HENs) design considering prohibited and restricted matches. The approach first determines a pre-designed HEN and then performs a topology evolution to trade off prohibitions and evaluate restrictions, providing designers with guidance on implementing restricted matches.
