An isotopic strategy to investigate the role of water vapor in the oxidation of 1,2-dichloroethane over the Ru/WO3 or Ru/TiO2 catalyst

Xiaohui Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, electron paramagnetic resonance, in situ diffuse reflection infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy, and temperature-programmed techniques were used to investigate the effects of water vapor on oxygen species and reaction pathways during the oxidation of 1,2-dichloroethane over Ru/WO3 or Ru/TiO2 catalyst. The results showed that the introduction of water vapor increased the formation of active oxygen species and promoted the conversion of vinyl chloride to acetic acid. Additionally, water acted as a adsorption site and facilitated the catalytic reaction.

Double-exchange-induced effective increased CO2 capture of CaO by doping bimetallic oxides with variable valence state

Hongxia Guo et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates an effective increase in the CO2 performance of calcium-based adsorbent by incorporating bimetallic oxides with variable valence state. The (Fe-Mn)-doped CaO sample exhibits excellent CO2 adsorption capacity and carbonation conversion, with the enhanced performance attributed to the uniform distribution of particles and the electron transfer between Fe and Mn. The synergistic interaction of Fe and Mn significantly enhances the adsorption kinetics and reduces the activation energy of the carbonation reaction.

The water gas shift reaction: Catalysts and reaction mechanism

Erlisa Baraj et al.

Summary: The water gas shift reaction (WGSR) is a moderately exothermic reaction between carbon monoxide and steam, typically conducted in two stages at different temperatures with different catalysts. There is no universally accepted reaction mechanism for WGSR, and catalyst deactivation presents a limitation on its utilization. Various catalysts are active for WGSR, and catalyst preparation and pre-treatment steps play a crucial role in catalyst activity.

Roles of highly ordered mesoporous structures of Fe-Ni bimetal oxides for an enhanced high-temperature water-gas shift reaction activity†

Yong Min Park et al.

Summary: The highly ordered mesoporous Fe-Ni bimetal oxide (m-FeNi) catalysts showed enhanced activity and stability with high CO2 selectivity and small methanation activity at an optimal Ni/Fe ratio of 0.24. The well-dispersed Ni nanoparticles played a key role in altering the reducibility of Fe nanoparticles and increasing the interaction of Fe2O3-NiO interfaces, leading to less aggregation of Fe nanoparticles and smaller coke depositions. The newly formed stronger interactions between the mesoporous Fe2O3 and highly dispersed NiO nanoparticles at their optimal amounts were responsible for the superior structural and catalytic stability of m-FeNi metal oxides even under HT-WGS reaction conditions.
