Efficient ORR catalysts for zinc-air battery: Biomass-derived ultra-stable Co nanoparticles wrapped with graphitic layers via optimizing electron transfer

Yu Feng et al.

Summary: Researchers have constructed a chainmail catalyst with outstanding stability, consisting of highly graphitic layers wrapped uniform-size Co nanoparticles. The electron transfer from the inner Co nanoparticles to the external graphitic layers promotes the adsorption process of oxygen molecules and enhances the oxygen reduction reaction kinetics. The prepared catalyst demonstrates excellent activity and stability, providing new ideas for the design of nanoconfined catalysts.

Cathode Engineering for High Energy Density Aqueous Zn Batteries

Qi Yang et al.

Summary: The frequent safety accidents of lithium-ion batteries have led to the development of aqueous batteries as a safer substitute. However, the narrow voltage window of aqueous electrolytes limits the energy density of aqueous batteries. The use of zinc metal anode in aqueous zinc batteries has the potential to achieve high energy density. Nevertheless, the overall energy density of the current aqueous zinc batteries is still unsatisfactory.
