Low-temperature deposition and crystallization of RuO2/TiO2 on cotton fabric for efficient solar photocatalytic degradation of o-toluidine

Mouheb Sboui et al.

Summary: A green low-temperature deposition and crystallization method was developed to uniformly coat RuO2/TiO2 nanocomposite onto cotton fabrics for efficient solar photocatalysis. The RuO2/TiO2/Cotton exhibited better visible light absorption and higher charge mobility, leading to a remarkable improvement in photocatalytic activity compared to TiO2/Cotton. The successful formation of a robust heterogeneous interface between TiO2 and RuO2 suppressed charge carrier recombination effectively, contributing to long-term stability in photocatalytic activity and high mechanical durability.

2D/2D nanohybrid of Ti3C2 MXene/WO3 photocatalytic membranes for efficient water purification

Xin Pang et al.

Summary: The Ti3C2/WO3/PVDF photocatalytic membrane, prepared by dispersing WO3 nanoplates on the surface of Ti3C2 MXene, demonstrates efficient water purification and good photostability. The outstanding performance of the photocatalytic membrane is attributed to the electrical conductivity of Ti3C2, the formation of built-in electric field, and the large interface contact area between Ti3C2 and WO3.

Impact of a new functionalization of multiwalled carbon nanotubes on antifouling and permeability of PVDF nanocomposite membranes for dye wastewater treatment

Sina Gholami et al.

Summary: In this study, novel hydroxyl and carboxyl functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (AHF-MWCNT and ACFMWCNT) were successfully synthesized and used to modify and improve the antifouling properties of PVDF membranes. The blending of AHF-MWCNT and ACF-MWCNT in the PVDF membrane resulted in a more hydrophilic and smoother membrane surface with increased negative charge. The overall porosity and mean pore radius of the membrane were also increased by embedding MWCNTs. The addition of AHF-MWCNT and ACF-MWCNT in the PVDF membrane matrix improved the filtration performance, antifouling, and dye separation. Carboxylic modification showed better performance than hydroxyl functionalization. The 0.1 wt% ACF-MWCNT blended membrane exhibited the best performance with high permeability, high fouling resistance, and high dye rejection.

Photocatalytic degradation of steroid hormone micropollutants by TiO2-coated polyethersulfone membranes in a continuous flow-through process

Shabnam Lotfi et al.

Summary: A polyethersulfone-titanium dioxide membrane was used to effectively remove micropollutants during the photocatalytic degradation of steroid hormones in a flow-through photocatalytic membrane reactor. The membrane, with its nanoscale size and high surface area, facilitated close contact between the micropollutants and the photocatalytic radicals, resulting in high removal efficiency even at environmentally relevant concentrations.
