RNA-seq analysis identifies differentially expressed gene in different types of donkey skeletal muscles

Wenqiong Chai et al.

Summary: This study used RNA-seq technology to profile the transcriptomic changes in different muscles of donkey. Several important genes related to donkey meat quality were identified, including those involved in muscle fiber type and glucose metabolism. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the molecular mechanism of donkey meat quality.

Determination of the Heterogeneity of Intramuscular Fat and Visceral Adipose Tissue From Dezhou Donkey by Lipidomics and Transcriptomics Profiling

Mengmeng Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the differences in lipid profiles and metabolism in longissimus dorsi muscle (LDM) and visceral adipose tissue (VAT) from donkeys using non-targeted lipidomics and transcriptomics. The results revealed variations in lipid content, distribution of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), and identified potential lipid markers and metabolic pathways associated with glycerolipid (GL) and glycerophospholipid (GP) metabolisms. Additionally, differential gene expression analysis showed enrichment in sphingolipid signaling pathways, offering new perspectives for understanding the heterogeneity of intramuscular fat (IMF) and visceral adipose tissue (VAT).

Determination of lipid profiles of Dezhou donkey meat using an LC-MS-based lipidomics method

Mengmeng Li et al.

Summary: Intramuscular fat (IMF) is an important factor affecting meat quality, and the lipid and metabolic profiles of donkey meat were explored using lipidomics. The results showed that IMF was more abundant in the longissimus dorsi muscle (LDM) of Dezhou donkeys, mainly composed of triglycerides rich in saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids. Differential lipids identified in different muscle parts may serve as potential biomarkers. The study provides insights into lipid composition, structures, and metabolic pathways in donkey meat, with implications for product development and IMF regulation.
