Carbon nanotube supported oriented metal organic framework membrane for effective ethylene/ethane separation

Ruicong Wei et al.

Summary: In this study, we demonstrate that ZIF-8 is capable of effectively separating ethylene from ethane through its 4-M window. We successfully fabricated a {100}-oriented ZIF-8 membrane (100-M) using a carbon nanotube-induced membrane approach. The obtained 100-M exhibited higher ethylene/ethane selectivity compared to randomly oriented membranes and showed excellent mechanical stability.
