Synthesis, characterization, and biological activity of cadmium (II) and antimony (III) complexes based on 2-acetylpyrazine thiosemicarbazones

Jin Wang et al.

Summary: The synthesis of four metal complexes and their antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities were investigated in this study. The results showed that the antibacterial activity of cadmium (II) and antimony (III) complexes was enhanced compared to their ligands, with Cd2 and Sb2 demonstrating effective antibacterial activity and Cd2 showing the most effective antiproliferative activity against HepG2 cells.

Conjugation of triphenylantimony(V) with carvacrol against human breast cancer cells

Marianthi Kapetana et al.

Summary: In this study, the organoantimony derivative TPAC, containing carvacrol as a ligand, was successfully synthesized and characterized. TPAC showed strong inhibition on the growth of human breast adenocarcinoma cells, especially MCF-7 cells with positive hormone receptors. The mechanism of action was found to be through apoptosis initiated by mitochondrial damage. The binding mode of TPAC with DNA and glutathione was also investigated, providing insights for the development of targeted chemotherapeutics.

Inhibition of Mitochondrial ATP Synthesis and Regulation of Oxidative Stress Based on {SbW8O30} Determined by Single-Cell Proteomics Analysis

Lige Gong et al.

Summary: The modified 10-nuclear heteroatom cluster exhibited inhibitory activity, affecting ATP production through modulation of protein expression related to metabolism. It acted as a protective agent against ROS stress by functioning as catalase and glutathione peroxidase, and showed potential as specific oxidative/antioxidant regulatory agents.

Arsenic Trioxide Rescues Structural p53 Mutations through a Cryptic Allosteric Site

Shuo Chen et al.

Summary: The study identified small molecules, such as arsenic trioxide, as compounds that can rescue the structural mutations in p53, reactivating its tumor suppressive function. Arsenic binding stabilizes the DNA-binding loop-sheet-helix motif and overall beta-sandwich fold, providing a new strategy for cancer therapy targeting p53 mutations.
