Bisindole [3]arenes-Indolyl Macrocyclic Arenes Having Significant Iodine Capture Capacity

Xingke Yu et al.

Summary: Novel macrocyclic arene compounds, called bisindole [3]arenes (BID[3]s), composed of six indole subunits, were synthesized using a one-pot condensation reaction. The macrocyclic structures were confirmed by X-ray studies and were found to have high iodine adsorption ability and significant morphology changes upon iodine adsorption and desorption.

Transformation of Porous Organic Cages and Covalent Organic Frameworks with Efficient Iodine Vapor Capture Performance

Chao Liu et al.

Summary: The reaction of BPDDP with cyclohexanediamine results in the synthesis of nitrogen-rich porous organic cage BPPOC and two USTB-1 and USTB-2 COFs. The newly prepared COFs show enhanced iodine vapor adsorption capability and can be transformed between different structures by exchanging the imine unit. This transformation is influenced by the crystal structures and the porosity of the materials, with nitrogen atoms proving superior to sulfur atoms for POCs in iodine vapor capture.

Sequential Formation of Heteroternary Cucurbit[10]uril (CB[10]) Complexes

Chunyang Li et al.

Summary: The guest molecule trimethyl-azaphosphatrane (AZAP) forms a 1:1 complex with the macrocycle cucurbit[10]uril (CB[10]) in water. Molecular dynamics calculations reveal that CB[10] adopts an 8-shape and contracts around AZAP, leaving some unoccupied space. This residual space can be used to include co-guest molecules, potentially opening new perspectives in supramolecular chemistry.
