Defect Formation, T-Atom Substitution and Adsorption of Guest Molecules in MSE-Type Zeolite Framework-DFT Modeling

Petko St. Petkov et al.

Summary: Computational modeling based on Density Functional Theory was used to understand the preference for the formation of silanol nests and the substitution of Si by Ti or Al in different crystallographic positions of the MSE-type framework. The energetically favorable processes were identified, and an experimental identification method for the T atom position in Ti-MCM-68 zeolite was suggested. Adsorption modeling of hydrogen peroxide at the Ti center in the framework showed a preference for molecular adsorption over dissociative adsorption.

Direct Imaging and Location of Pb2+ and K+ in EMT Framework-Type Zeolite

Yaping Zhang et al.

Summary: The development of electron microscopy has enabled the direct observation of the structure and metal distribution within zeolites at an atomic level. Alternative image modes, such as annular bright field, have proven useful in extending spatial resolution and increasing sensitivity towards light elements. Additionally, combining atomic imaging with three-dimensional electron diffraction tomography analysis allowed the determination of the crystal symmetry of lead-EMT to be P6(3)mc.

Resolving atomic SAPO-34/18 intergrowth architectures for methanol conversion by identifying light atoms and bonds

Boyuan Shen et al.

Summary: The micro-structures of zeolite catalysts have significant impact on their macroarchitectures and catalytic performances. By atomically resolving SAPO-34 and SAPO-18 zeolites, the correlation between structure and properties is revealed for enhancing their performances in methanol conversion. The real-space imaging of atomic lattices in different SAPO-34/18 intergrowth catalysts provides insights into improving catalytic activities based on unique architectures.
