Association between cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers of neuronal injury or amyloidosis and cognitive decline after major surgery

Mattias Danielson et al.

Summary: This study found that major orthopaedic surgery causes a release of CSF markers of neural injury and brain amyloidosis, but could not detect an association between these biomarker changes and long-term postoperative neurocognitive dysfunction.

Association of Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting vs Percutaneous Coronary Intervention With Memory Decline in Older Adults Undergoing Coronary Revascularization

Elizabeth L. Whitlock et al.

Summary: This study compared the change in the rate of memory decline after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) vs percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in older adults and found that the type of revascularization procedure was not significantly associated with differences in the change of rate of memory decline. This has important implications for the choice of revascularization procedure and cognitive function protection in older adults.
