Signal-enhanced electrochemiluminescence strategy using iron-based metal-organic frameworks modified with carboxylated Ru(II) complexes for neuron-specific enolase detection

Chenchen Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a highly efficient and sensitive ECL immunoassay for detecting neuron-specific enolase (NSE) was developed by linking carboxylated Ru(bpy)(3)(2+) to an iron-based metal-organic framework (NH2-MIL-88 (Fe)) and using polyaniline-intercalating vanadium oxide (PVO) nanosheets as the substrate. The NH2-MIL-88 (Fe) and PVO provided abundant amino groups that enhanced the ECL signal by catalyzing the reactions of the co-reactant S2O82-. This research offers an effective strategy for ultrasensitive detection of trace proteins using ECL immunoassays.

Small-cell lung cancer

Charles M. Rudin et al.

Summary: Small-cell lung cancer is a type of lung cancer characterized by high proliferative rate, early metastasis, and poor prognosis, strongly associated with tobacco carcinogens. Most patients are diagnosed with metastatic disease, with only a small fraction having potentially curative earlier-stage disease. Genomic profiling reveals extensive chromosomal rearrangements and high mutation burden in SCLC, often involving inactivation of TP53 and RB1 tumor suppressor genes.

Xiaodong Yu et al.

Summary: A sandwich-type electrochemical immunosensor was developed in this study for the quantitative detection of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in small cell lung cancer diagnosis. The use of AuPt NSNs and Au/CuxO@CeO2 as substrates showed enhanced performance in terms of electron conduction, immobilization capacity, catalytic activity, and signal amplification, resulting in sensitive and effective detection of NSE. The designed immunosensor exhibited a broad linear range, low detection limit, and satisfactory sensitivity, selectivity, and stability.

A novel self-enhanced carbon nitride platform coupled with highly effective dual-recycle strand displacement amplifying strategy for sensitive photoelectrochemical assay

Qiao Ding et al.

Summary: A novel self-enhanced photoelectric active material, Na+, K+-codoped carbon nitride (NaKCN), was synthesized for constructing a sensitive photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor to detect target miRNA-182-5p. The NaKCN displayed glucose oxidase (GOx)-mimicking photocatalytic property and Na+, K+ co-doping effectively improved the optical absorptivity and photocatalytic efficiency. The PEC biosensor achieved high sensitivity with a low detection limit, providing a new avenue for improving sensitivity of bioanalysis and diagnosis of diseases.

Modulating the 0D/2D Interface of Hybrid Semiconductors for Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Performances

Faying Li et al.

Summary: Photoelectrochemical solar-driven hydrogen production using semiconductors as active materials shows promising potential, but faces challenges like limited absorption range and rapid charge recombination. This study constructs a photoelectrode based on a 0D/2D heterojunction using metal chalcogenide quantum dots and hierarchical Zn-MoS2 nanosheets. By analyzing the effects of different quantum dot materials on the nanosheets, the researchers found that the 0D/2D heterostructure based on the composite Zn-MoS2/PbS@CdS significantly enhances the photocurrent due to synergistic effects and improved light harvesting capabilities.
