A near-infrared endoplasmic reticulum-targeted fluorescent probe to visualize the fluctuation of SO2 during endoplasmic reticulum stress

Lizhou Yue et al.

Summary: In this study, a near-infrared fluorescent probe targeted to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) was developed for highly selective and sensitive detection of sulfur dioxide (SO2). The probe successfully allowed imaging of SO2 in living systems and revealed the role of SO2 in ER-associated diseases.

A NIR fluorescent probe for Vanin-1 and its applications in imaging, kidney injury diagnosis, and the development of inhibitor

Zhenhao Tian et al.

Summary: An enzyme-activated NIR fluorescent probe (DDAV) was constructed to detect Vanin-1 activity in biosamples with high selectivity and sensitivity, allowing for early diagnosis of kidney injury and visualization of endogenous Vanin-1 in vivo. Screening of intestinal bacteria with high Vanin-1 expression using DDAV provided guidance for NSAIDs use, while oleuropein was identified as a potent natural inhibitor for Vanin-1, showing promise for clinical therapy of inflammatory bowel disease.

Nanoplatforms with synergistic redox cycles and rich defects for activatable image-guided tumor-specific therapy

Hui Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, a nanoplatform consisting of CMC NFs and F-19 probes has been developed, which can enhance therapeutic efficiency and activate F-19 MRI capability within the tumor microenvironment. The nanoplatforms can effectively disrupt redox homeostasis and perform tumor-specific chemodynamic therapy, offering great potential for deep-seated tumor diagnosis and treatment.

Recent Progress in Fluorescent Sensors for Drug-Induced Liver Injury Assessment

Jiao Chen et al.

Summary: Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a significant concern in drug discovery and clinical medicine, and current clinical methods for detecting DILI are not optimal. Recent studies suggest that fluorescent sensors could be efficient tools for detecting DILI indicators with high sensitivity and specificity, though there are challenges in developing diagnostic fluorescent sensors for DILI. The design strategies and challenges discussed in this review may inspire chemists to develop accurate diagnostic fluorescent sensors for other diseases.

Probe into the Molecular Mechanism of Ibuprofen Interaction with Warfarin Bound to Human Serum Albumin in Comparison to Ascorbic and Salicylic Acids: Allosteric Inhibition of Anticoagulant Release

Hamid Reza Kalhor et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of commonly used drugs on the release of warfarin bound to HSA in silico. Both s-ibuprofen and ascorbic acid were found to exhibit allosteric effects on the release of warfarin from HSA, with ibuprofen showing a stabilizing effect and ascorbic acid aiding in the release through destabilization of HSA. Molecular dynamics simulations provided valuable insights into the interactions of drugs with the protein and the mechanism of anticoagulant release.
