Efficacy and safety of add-on sodium benzoate, a D-amino acid oxidase inhibitor, in treatment of schizophrenia: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Jyothsna Chinnapura Seetharam et al.

Summary: Add-on sodium benzoate can significantly improve positive symptoms of schizophrenia but has no significant favourable effect on negative symptoms, general psychopathology, and total PANSS score. Extrapyramidal symptoms are significantly higher in the sodium benzoate group compared to the control group. Further studies are needed to evaluate long-term efficacy, safety, and use in specific subgroups of patients.

Fluorimetric determination of the enantiomers of vigabatrin, an antiepileptic drug, by reversed-phase HPLC with a novel diastereomer derivatization reagent

Shusuke Uekusa et al.

Summary: In this study, the antiepileptic drug vigabatrin was determined using reversed-phase HPLC with fluorimetric detection and a newly designed fluorescence derivatization reagent. The derivatization process allowed for the separation and quantification of the VB enantiomers on an ODS column, achieving successful determination of VB enantiomers in human serum.

Molecular characterization and functional analysis of Eimeria tenella citrate synthase

Haixia Wang et al.

Summary: Chicken coccidiosis is a major parasitic disease in poultry industry caused by Eimeria genus, with resistance to anticoccidial drugs becoming a growing concern. The study indicated that EtCS may be involved in host cell invasion of E. tenella and contribute to the development of E. tenella resistance to certain drugs.

Dynamics of D-amino acid oxidase ain kidney epithelial cells under amino acid starvation

Hirofumi Sogabe et al.

Summary: In this study, it was discovered that D-amino acid oxidase (DAO) in pig renal proximal tubule cells is affected by trypsinization and amino acid starvation, resulting in a rapid decrease in intracellular DAO protein levels. Furthermore, the experiments showed that DAO protein is degraded via the autophagy pathway under starvation conditions.
