Summary: Research indicates that women with perinatal depression and anxiety disorders have a 3.5 percentage point higher probability of undergoing primary cesarean section compared to those without these disorders. It is important to further study the mechanisms by which these conditions increase the risk for cesarean section and develop effective interventions.
