Validation of the Modified Schein Dry Eye Symptom Questionnaire and Comparison With the Ocular Surface Disease Index

Jerry R. Paugh et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the validity and diagnostic efficacy of a modified Schein dry eye questionnaire and compared it to the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI). The results showed that the modified Schein questionnaire is rapid to administer and score and compares well with the OSDI for test efficacy. It differentiates normals from ADDE and EDE subtypes and is responsive to dry eye treatment.

Development of a Questionnaire for Detecting Changes in Dry Eye Disease-Related Symptoms

Jose Pinto-Fraga et al.

Summary: This study designed a simplified questionnaire CDES-Q and found through a prospective observational study that after treatment, OSDI, SANDE II, and CDES-Q all showed a significant reduction in DED-related symptoms. CDES-Q can better differentiate patients without changes from those who suffered a worsening.

Rasch analysis for development and reduction of Symptom Questionnaire for Visual Dysfunctions (SQVD)

Mario Canto-Cerdan et al.

Summary: The study developed the Symptom Questionnaire for Visual Dysfunctions (SQVD) and conducted a psychometric analysis using Rasch method, which resulted in a reduced questionnaire with 14 items that displayed good reliability and validity. The final SQVD demonstrated a well-structured tool that fits the Rasch model, making it a reliable and valid instrument to measure visual symptoms.
