Iron-Catalyzed Ortho C-H Homoallylation of Aromatic Ketones with Methylenecyclopropanes

Naoki Kimura et al.

Summary: A new method for the C-H homoallylation reaction of aromatic ketones with methylenecyclopropanes using a catalytic amount of Fe(PMe3)(4) was reported, yielding selectively ortho-homoallylated aromatic ketones through regioselective scission of the three-membered rings. The homoallylated products are suitable for further modifications, leading to functionalized 1,2-dihydronaphthalenes.

Visible-light-promoted divergent functionalizations of methylenecyclopropanes

Baoxiang Zhu et al.

Summary: A new synthetic method has been developed for the synthesis of various compounds via visible-light-promoted radical monofunctionalization and difunctionalization of methylenecyclopropanes. The reaction conditions are simple and convenient, with moderate to excellent yields, a wide substrate scope, and tolerance for different functional groups. The possible radical mechanism has been investigated and proven to be a single electron transfer (SET) procedure.

SbCl3 initiated conjunctive C-H bond functionalization and carbochlorination between glycine esters and methylenecyclopropanes (MCPs)

Yichun Su et al.

Summary: In the presence of dioxygen, antimony trichloride enabled the functionalization of sp(3) C-H bonds and carbochlorination of glycines, leading to the formation of chlorinated quinolines in high yields. The mechanistic study suggests that antimony(V) species are involved in the oxidation of sp(3) C-H bonds and subsequent carbochlorination via a radical intermediate.

Visible light mediated synthesis of 4-aryl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene derivatives via single-electron oxidation or MHAT from methylenecyclopropanes

Jiaxin Liu et al.

Summary: A new method for the direct single-electron oxidation of methylenecyclopropanes (MCPs) was reported, leading to the rapid construction of 4-aryl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene derivatives through merging visible light photoredox catalysis and cobalt catalysis. In MeCN with Et3N·3HF, fluorinated derivatives were obtained in moderate yields, while in MeCN/HFIP, good yields were achieved through a MHAT process.
