Flexible Electronic Catheter Based on Nanofibers for the In Vivo Elimination of Circulating Tumor Cells

Summary: This study reports a flexible electronic catheter that can capture and kill circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with high efficiency. The catheter is assembled from nanofibers with liquid metal-polymer conductor (MPC) electrodes and modified with an epithelial cellular adhesion molecule (EpCAM) antibody to improve specificity. In a rabbit model, the catheter showed 100% killing efficiency for captured CTCs without noticeable damage to normal cells and organs. This electronic catheter offers an alternative strategy for enhancing clinical cancer therapy.
