Chromium removal from tannery effluents by adsorption process via activated carbon chat stems (Catha edulis) using response surface methodology

Yigezu Mekonnen Bayisa et al.

Summary: This study focused on the removal of chromium (VI) from wastewater using activated carbon derived from chat stem. The study found that the removal efficiency of chromium varied from 62.5% to 97.03% depending on the process parameters. The maximum adsorption efficiency of 97.03% was achieved with a dosage of 30 g/L, pH of 4, and contact time of 180 min. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms were used for the adsorption process, showing a high efficiency with minimal changes in the corrosion state.
