Congenital myasthenic syndrome: Correlation between clinical features and molecular diagnosis

Eduardo P. Estephan et al.

Summary: This study focused on phenotype features and the correlation with molecular diagnosis of congenital myasthenic syndromes (CMS) patients, showing a higher chance of confirmed molecular diagnosis in group A and a lower chance in group C. It was found that some individual clinical features, alterations on biopsy, and electrophysiology can enhance the specificity for CMS diagnosis.

Congenital myasthenic syndrome in Turkey: clinical and genetic features in the long-term follow-up of patients

Gulen Gul Mert et al.

Summary: Congenital Myasthenic Syndromes (CMS) are rare disorders caused by defects in the structure and function of neuromuscular junctions. Genetic diagnosis and clinical symptoms are crucial for selecting the most suitable treatment, with CHRNE and COLQ gene mutations being common in the Turkish population. Patients can benefit significantly and recover after treatment, which should be planned based on genetic tests and clinical findings.

Congenital myasthenic syndromes: where do we go from here?

Sithara Ramdas et al.

Summary: Congenital myasthenia syndromes are rare conditions affecting neuromuscular transmission, caused by loss or impaired function of proteins due to genetic defects. Over 30 genes with disease-causing mutations have been identified, and tailored treatment based on underlying molecular mechanisms is necessary.

MTP deficiency caused by HADHB mutations: Pathophysiology and clinical manifestations

Robin Dagher et al.

Summary: Mutations in the HADHB gene cause Mitochondrial Trifunctional Protein (MTP) deficiency, leading to the inability to metabolize long-chain fatty acids in affected patients. Different clinical manifestations are associated with this deficiency, with the pathophysiology of sensorimotor neuropathy remaining relatively unknown.
