Strained Epitaxy of Monolayer Transition Metal Dichalcogenides for Wrinkle Arrays

Jingwei Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, large-area monolayer TMDCs wrinkle arrays were fabricated directly on m-quartz substrate using strained epitaxy. By quenching the TMDCs after growth, the uniaxial thermal strain is released as wrinkle arrays along the quartz direction. The size of WS2 wrinkles can be finely modulated by changing the quenching temperature, inducing changes in optical properties and enhanced chemical reactivity.
