Isospin magnetism and spin-polarized superconductivity in Bernal bilayer graphene

Haoxin Zhou et al.

Summary: Spin-polarized superconductivity is observed in Bernal bilayer graphene under a large applied perpendicular electric field. Electrostatic gate tuning leads to transitions between electronic phases with different polarizations in the spin space. A transition to a superconducting state is observed at a finite magnetic field, and the critical temperature is consistent with a spin-triplet order parameter.

Moireless correlations in ABCA graphene

Alexander Kerelsky et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the formation of emergent correlated phases in multilayer rhombohedral graphene without the need for twisted van der Waals layers. The study shows that two layers of bilayer graphene twisted by a tiny angle can host large regions of uniform rhombohedral four-layer graphene with a sharp van Hove singularity. Furthermore, the study suggests that the broken symmetry state in ABCA graphene could be attributed to a charge-transfer excitonic insulator or a ferrimagnet.

Tunable s-SNOM for Nanoscale Infrared Optical Measurement of Electronic Properties of Bilayer Graphene

Konstantin G. Wirth et al.

Summary: In this study, the electronic properties of bilayer graphene were directly probed using s-SNOM measurements with a broadly tunable laser source. The complex optical conductivity resonance in BLG around 0.39 eV was successfully retrieved and reconstructed with nanoscale resolution. This technique offers a new approach for nanoscopic noncontact measurements of electronic properties in complex material systems.

Half- and quarter-metals in rhombohedral trilayer graphene

Haoxin Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, we demonstrate the spontaneous ferromagnetic polarization in rhombohedral trilayer graphene driven by gate-tuned van Hove singularities. Through capacitance and transport measurements, a cascade of transitions tuned to density and electronic displacement field are observed. The results show that rhombohedral graphene is an ideal platform for controlled tests of many-body theory, revealing the fundamentally itinerant nature of magnetism in moire materials.
