Future outlooks and prospects associated with the development of PCCs for high energy density and power density are highlighted.

Enhancement of Structural Stability of Graphene Aerogel for Thermal Energy Harvesting

Summary: A modified graphene aerogel with high mechanical properties was synthesized in this work, addressing the structural stability issue commonly faced by graphene aerogels. The internal structure of the graphene aerogel was successfully cross-linked, enabling it to reduce volume shrinkage during the infiltration of phase change material (PCM), and accommodate additional pure PCM without structural damage. This cross-linked graphene/cysteamine aerogel (GCA) supported PCM composites that can readily absorb solar light to transfer thermal energy and generate electrical energy through a PN junction thermoelectric power generator (PN TEG).

The system can simultaneously respond to light, electricity, magnetism, and temperature, converting various energy sources into thermal energy stored as latent heat. The PCM shows excellent performance, with a mild transition onset temperature, high thermal energy storage density, shape stability, and great phase transition stability even after numerous heating-cooling cycles.
