Comparison between silver sulfide and cadmium sulfide quantum dots in ZnO and ZnO/ZnFe2O4 photoanode of quantum dots sensitized solar cells

N. A. Masmali et al.

Summary: Zinc oxide (ZnO) and Zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4) nanoparticles were synthesized and their phase structures, crystallite sizes, morphologies, and optical properties were studied. Gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) based on methylcellulose, sulfur, and sodium sulfide was prepared and characterized. Mesoporous thin films of ZnO and ZnFe2O4 sensitized with Ag2S and CdS were used as photoanodes in quantum dots sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs), and their photovoltaic characteristics were investigated. The performance of QDSSCs using CdS and Ag2S quantum dots was compared.

Negative Effects of Annealed Seed Layer on the Performance of ZnO-Nanorods Based Nitric Oxide Gas Sensor

Pragya Singh et al.

Summary: In this study, ZnO nanorod films were successfully grown on annealed ZnO seed layers at different ambient temperatures. The morphology of the nanorods was found to affect the gas sensing response to nitric oxide (NO) gas. Annealing treatment changed the seed layer's grain size and defect concentration and was responsible for the observed phenomenon. The devices exhibited good sensing response to NO concentration of 10 ppb and up to 100 ppb.

Enhancement of opto-electrical properties in Co doped CdS-TiO2 nanocomposite thin film as photoanode for Semiconductor Sensitized Solar Cells (SSSCs)

Sainta T. Jostar et al.

Summary: Cobalt doped CdS-TiO2 nanocomposite thin films were prepared using a bottom-up approach. The incorporation of ZnS nanolayer improved the photo stability of CdS nanocrystals. The structural, optical, electrical, and surface morphological properties of the ZnScobalt CdS-TiO2 composite film were systematically investigated. The results showed that cobalt doping enhanced the conductivity and facilitated electron transfer. The diffusion of cobalt doped CdS nanoparticles into the TiO2 nanoporous structure was observed. The findings of this study have important implications for applications such as solar cells.

Busra Altun et al.

Summary: In this study, pure zinc oxide and lightly cadmium doped zinc oxide films were synthesized by chemical bath deposition to investigate the impact of Cd doping ratio and temperature on their electrical and dielectric properties. The results demonstrated the critical effect of temperature and Cd doping ratio on the electrical and dielectric properties of ZnO films, with Cd doping significantly affecting the properties below 500 K.

Summary: In this study, pure zinc oxide (ZnO) and tin-doped zinc oxide (Zn1-xSnxO) thin films were synthesized using the successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method. Structural, optical, and electrical characteristics of the thin films were properly investigated. The results showed that Sn doping led to increased transparency and bandgap in the films, and the doping ratio had a critical effect on the conductivity and grain effects at different temperatures.
