Electrochemical deposition of vertically aligned tellurium nanorods on flexible carbon cloth for wearable supercapacitors

Sindhuja Manoharan et al.

Summary: Low-dimensional metallenes, specifically tellurium nanorods anchored on carbon cloth via electrosynthesis method, show promising performance as supercapacitors for wearable energy storage devices. The Te-CC WSC exhibits high device capacitance, energy density, excellent capacitance retention, high power density, and self-discharge characteristics, making it a potential candidate for next-generation energy devices. Additionally, integration with solar cells demonstrates a self-powered system for portable electronic devices.

Broadband and Tunable Light Harvesting in Nanorippled MoS2 Ultrathin Films

Mukul Bhatnagar et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the nano-fabrication of flat optic silica gratings layered with 2D MoS2 over a large area, achieving a strong enhancement of photon absorption. By exciting Guided Mode Anomalies (GMA), resonant and nonresonant light can be strongly confined to the 2D MoS2 layers, resulting in absorption enhancement. These large area 2D MoS2 metastructures have broadband and tunable photon harvesting capabilities, making them ideal for new generation devices in nanophotonics, photo-detection, conversion, and quantum technologies.

Two-dimensional ReS2: Solution to the unresolved queries on its structure and inter-layer coupling leading to potential optical applications

Janardhan Rao Gadde et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the structure of ReS2 and its thickness-dependent optical response through first-principles calculations and experimental analysis. The results show a correlation between optical and electronic properties, with sulfur vacancy-induced mid-gap states enhancing exciton lifetimes in the films. The ion gel top-gated photodetectors fabricated from the CVD films exhibit high photo-response and detectivity, demonstrating the potential applications of vertically grown large-area films in optics and opto-electronics.
