The Effect of Salinized Nano ZrO2 Particles on the Microstructure, Hardness, and Wear Behavior of Acrylic Denture Tooth Nanocomposite

Kawkb M. El-Tamimi et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the effect of adding salinized nano ZrO2 particles on the microstructure, hardness, and wear resistance of acrylic denture teeth. The addition of 5% and 10% ZrO2 particles improves the microhardness and wear resistance of the acrylic dentures without causing microcracks.

Fast Cross-Linked Hydrogel as a Green Light-Activated Photocatalyst for Localized Biofilm Disruption and Brush-Free Tooth Whitening

Qun Li et al.

Summary: This study developed an injectable hydrogel membrane for the simultaneous removal of biofilm and tooth whitening through photodynamic therapy. The hydrogel could form a biofilm removal coating on the tooth surface and release reactive oxygen species under green light, resulting in non-destructive tooth whitening and biofilm eradication.

Additive Manufacture of Dynamic Thiol-ene Networks Incorporating Anhydride-Derived Reversible Thioester Links

Maciej Podgorski et al.

Summary: A photoprintable dynamic thiol-ene resin was developed for 3D printing, with optimized curing properties and high conversion rates achieved within a short period of time. The dynamic chemistry allowed for rapid reversible exchange, enabling reconfiguration and depolymerization of printed objects at specific temperature ranges, showing potential for new applications in shape memory and 4D printable functional materials.

A comprehensive review of the antibacterial activity of dimethylaminohexadecyl methacrylate (DMAHDM) and its influence on mechanical properties of resin-based dental materials

Francisca Jennifer Duarte de Oliveira et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that adding DMAHDM to restorative materials can provide antibacterial efficacy against various bacteria associated with dental caries and periodontal diseases, improving the longevity of restorations. However, this antibacterial monomer may increase material cytotoxicity and lead to changes in mechanical properties, warranting further research to better understand the implications.

Light-Mediated Synthesis and Reprocessing of Dynamic Bottlebrush Elastomers under Ambient Conditions

Chungryong Choi et al.

Summary: A novel grafting-through polymerization strategy was introduced to synthesize dynamic bottlebrush polymers and elastomers using light to construct a disulfide-containing backbone. The key starting material, alpha-lipoic acid (LA), is commercially available, inexpensive, and biocompatible. The resulting bottlebrush elastomers exhibit high gel fractions and tunable shear moduli, with the added benefit of dynamic disulfide bonds allowing for self-healing and on-demand chemical degradation.
