Effect of remote management on comprehensive management of diabetes mellitus during the COVID-19 epidemic

Jing Kang et al.

Summary: During the COVID-19 epidemic, remote management using the WeChat app was found to increase the time in range (TIR) and prevent weight gain in diabetic patients without increasing the risk of hypoglycemia. The study showed that remote management can improve blood glucose control and enhance patient self-management during the pandemic.

A limited number of slices yields comparable results to all slices in foot intrinsic muscle deterioration ratio on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging

Jennifer A. Zellers et al.

Summary: This study found that using a subset of slices (at least three slices) can yield comparable results to the full number of slices when assessing muscle quality in patients with diabetes and peripheral neuropathy. However, using a single slice showed poor agreement. This suggests that using a limited number of slices on CT or MRI is a feasible way to quantify muscle deterioration ratio.

Midfoot and ankle motion during heel rise and gait are related in people with diabetes and peripheral neuropathy

Hyo-Jung Jeong et al.

Summary: In individuals with DMPN, there is a positive correlation between midfoot and ankle joint motion during heel rise and gait. Utilizing a heel rise task may aid in identifying abnormal midfoot and ankle function associated with gait in people with DMPN.

Impact of COVID-19 'Stay Home, Stay Healthy' Orders on Function among Older Adults Participating in a Community-Based, Behavioral Intervention Study

Leah M. Adams et al.

Summary: The early mitigation orders for COVID-19 had a significant impact on the functioning of older adults participating in community-based exercise intervention studies, resulting in increased anxiety, decreased fatigue, and social participation. The disruption of daily life caused by stay-at-home orders was a major theme identified in the study, along with unexpected positive outcomes.
