Structural, molecular and thermal properties of cardanol based monomers and polymers synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP)

K. Suresh et al.

Summary: Cardanol, a byproduct of the cashew processing industry, has been widely studied as a feedstock for sustainable monomers and polymers. In this study, Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP) of three radically polymerizable monomers derived from cardanol was investigated. The thermal behavior of the monomers and polymers was characterized using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), showing differences in melting and crystallization temperatures. Additionally, the influence of different ATRP ligands on conversion, molecular weight, and polydispersity was examined.

Microstructure, corrosion behavior, and biocompatibility of Ti-6Al-4 V alloy fabricated by LPBF and EBM techniques

Maryam Kahvazi Zadeh et al.

Summary: This study investigates the microstructure and electrochemical behavior of Ti-6Al-4 V alloy manufactured by laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) and electron beam melting (EBM) in Ringer's solution. It is found that the LPBF-manufactured alloy has better corrosion resistance due to the formation of local galvanic cells in the EBM-manufactured alloy. MTT assay shows that the manufactured samples have good biocompatibility. The LPBF-manufactured alloy is more suitable for implant applications.

Tailoring the dielectric properties and thermal conductivity of f-Cu/PVDF composites with SiO2 shell as an interfacial layer

Dan Cao et al.

Summary: By employing a sol-gel method, silica-encapsulated flaky-Cu core-shell structured particles were successfully prepared and incorporated into composites to decrease the dielectric loss and conductivity, consequently improving the dielectric properties and thermal conductivity. The thickness of the silica interlayer needs to be finely tuned, and the optimal results are achieved by optimizing the weight ratio of SiO2 to f-Cu, catalyst loading, and reacting temperature in the preparation process.
