Simulation of ν2 Raman band of methane as a function of pressure

Aleksandr S. Tanichev et al.

Summary: The study developed and verified two methods for simulating the nu(2) Raman band of methane at different spectral resolutions and pressures, showing that the differences between calculated and measured spectra did not exceed 5% for each method in the range of 1-60 atm.

Features of Measuring Low CO Concentrations in N2-Containing Mixtures at Different Temperatures Using Spontaneous Raman Spectroscopy

Dmitry V. Petrov

Summary: This paper discusses a technique for deriving carbon monoxide intensity in Raman spectra by fitting nitrogen spectrum at various temperatures. It is found that ignoring the Herman-Wallis factors in the fitting procedure leads to an additional measurement error, especially at high temperatures.

Spontaneous Raman scattering at trace gas concentrations with a pressurized external multipass cavity

Juan S. Gomez Velez et al.

Summary: The setup utilizes a high power multimode semiconductor laser diode and an optical cavity to greatly enhance the spontaneous Raman scattering rate from pressurized gas samples, achieving a detection limit below 100 parts-per-billion for gaseous hydrogen. Isotopic trace detection is also demonstrated through headspace measurements of semiheavy water.

Possibilities of measuring the exhaled air composition using Raman spectroscopy

D. Petrov et al.

Summary: A Raman spectrometer with a detection limit of 100 ppb for gaseous media was developed, and experimental results on exhaled air samples from healthy individuals confirmed the feasibility of monitoring concentrations of various hydrocarbon compounds and (CO2)-C-13. Further development of this analytical method was outlined.
