Association of Antenatal Diet and Physical Activity-Based Interventions With Gestational Weight Gain and Pregnancy Outcomes A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Helena J. Teede et al.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis found that antenatal structured diet and physical activity-based lifestyle interventions were associated with reduced gestational weight gain (GWG) and lower risk of adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. These findings support the implementation of such interventions in routine antenatal care and policy worldwide.

Counseling and Behavioral Interventions for Healthy Weight and Weight Gain in Pregnancy: Evidence Report and Systematic Review for the US Preventive Services Task Force

Amy G. Cantor et al.

Summary: Counseling and active behavioral interventions to limit excessive gestational weight gain during pregnancy can reduce risks of gestational diabetes, emergency cesarean delivery, macrosomia, and large for gestational age. These interventions also lead to reduced weight gain in pregnant women and decrease the likelihood of exceeding recommended weight gain limits.
