Polyvinylpyrrolidone with ammonium iodide and plasticizer ethylene carbonate solid polymer electrolyte for supercapacitor application

Gaurav Nath et al.

Summary: A new polymer electrolyte, polyvinylpyrrolidone doped with salt ammonium iodide and plasticizer ethylene carbonate (EC), was prepared via solution casting technique for supercapacitor application. The conductivity (sigma) of the electrolyte was enhanced by doping EC, as confirmed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Polarized optical microscopy, Fourier transform spectroscopy, and X-Ray diffraction results provided evidence for the reduction of crystallinity in the polymer electrolyte and the composite nature of the plasticized electrolyte.

Study of cassava starch degradation using sonication process in aqueous sodium chloride

Bramantyo Airlangga et al.

Summary: This study found that sonication in aqueous NaCl solution can produce reducing sugar, with the amount relatively smaller compared to the total dissolved solid product. The increase in sonication amplitude was correlated with an increase in granule defect in SEM images. X-ray diffraction (XRD) indicated that the degradation process involved rupturing of the amorphous region, suggesting the potential usefulness of this process for starch modification.

Studies on structural and dielectric behaviour of PVA/PVP/SnO nanocomposites

V Siva et al.

Summary: Hybrid polymer nanocomposites based on PVA/PVP with SnO nanoparticles have been successfully prepared and characterized by XRD, FTIR, and SEM analysis. The addition of SnO nanoparticles increased the crystallinity and hydrogen bonding interaction in the polymer matrix. The high dielectric constant values were observed in PNCs with 1 wt% SnO addition at lower frequencies, with non-Debye behavior confirmed by argand plot and modulus analysis.

Summary: Solid polymer electrolytes composed of PVDF-HFP polymer, LiBF4 salt and EC plasticizer were synthesized using the solution cast technique. The effect of EC plasticizer on PVDF-HFP - LiBF4 polymer salt electrolyte was studied, showing different dielectric constants, dielectric losses, and AC conductivities at different frequencies. Mohd Sadiq et al.

Summary: In this study, sodium ion-conducting polymer-blend electrolyte (NIPBE) thin films were successfully synthesized using a standard solution-casting technique. The films displayed good flexibility, mechanical stability, and reduced crystallinity with an increase in NaHCO3 content due to the plasticization effect of Na salts. Various characterization techniques were used to analyze the optical and ion behavior of the NIPBE thin films, showing an increase in ionic conductivity with sodium salt concentration and good electrochemical stability for potential application in energy storage devices.

Proton conducting polymer electrolyte based on cornstarch, PVP, and NH4Br for energy storage applications

M. Anandha Jothi et al.

Summary: Proton conducting polymer blend electrolytes based on cornstarch and PVP with NH4Br were prepared by solution casting technique. The addition of NH4Br enhanced the amorphous nature of the blend confirmed by XRD, and caused changes in peak intensity, peak shape, and position in FTIR, indicating complex formation between the polymer and salt. The highest conductivity was observed in the 30 wt.% NH4Br added system at 358 K. The conduction mechanism involves quantum mechanical tunneling at mid-frequency and large polaron tunneling at higher frequency.
