Development and Validation of the Four Facet Mindful Eating Scale (FFaMES)

Kimberly Carriere et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop and evaluate a multifaceted mindful eating scale that assesses several domains of eating-specific mindfulness. Through a series of studies, a final scale consisting of 29 items with 4 factors was determined, showing good internal consistency and validity. Future research should continue to investigate the differential effects of various aspects of eating-specific mindfulness in preventing and treating obesity and its comorbidities.

Investigation of psychometric properties of the Mindful Eating Questionnaire in Chinese adolescents and young adults using mixed methods

Qian Zhang et al.

Summary: Overweight and obesity are significant health issues in China, particularly among young people. This study examines the relationship between eating styles and weight using a Chinese version of the Mindful Eating Questionnaire (C-MEQ). Findings from two studies highlight the need for revision of the C-MEQ due to issues with content validity and inadequate fit to the original MEQ structure. The revised C-MEQ (C-MEQ-R) shows better psychometric properties and significant associations with mindfulness, emotional eating, external eating, and BMI. However, there are still limitations in terms of internal reliability, subscale coherence, and construct validity. Further research is needed to develop and validate alternative measures of mindful eating in Chinese adolescents and young adults.
