Summary: Primary care providers in various income countries have expressed willingness to help people with mental illness but often lack appropriate training and supervision. Service users face internalized stigma and discrimination from family and community members. Further research is needed to understand effective strategies to reduce stigma, such as qualitative interviewing by non-clinical personnel.

Collaboration With People With Lived Experience of Mental Illness to Reduce Stigma and Improve Primary Care Services A Pilot Cluster Randomized Clinical Trial

Summary: This pilot trial aimed to examine the feasibility and acceptability of conducting an antistigma intervention in collaboration with people with lived experience of mental illness during mental health training of primary care practitioners. The results showed that training PCPs with PWLE was both feasible and acceptable, which could help reduce stigma and improve diagnostic accuracy in mental health care.
