The good, the bad, and the ugly: Revisiting the Dark Core

Bojana M. Dinic et al.

Summary: This research aimed to explore several strong candidates for the Dark Core of dark and light traits by using network analysis and shared variance analysis. The results revealed that primary psychopathy, callousness, pathological selfishness, Machiavellianism, and narcissistic rivalry were central elements in this network. Additionally, Antagonism shared the highest percentage with the dark traits, especially its facet callousness, which is considered the best candidate for the Dark Core. The combination of callousness, deceitfulness, and grandiosity shared the majority of the common variance with dark traits and could be seen as the Antagonistic Triad or an alternative Dark Triad.

Continuity and Change in the Genetic and Environmental Etiology of Youth Antisocial Behavior

Sarah L. Carroll et al.

Summary: This study found that trajectories of youth antisocial behavior are characterized by both continuity and change, with genetic and nonshared environmental factors playing a role in stability and change. Although antisocial behavior tends to decrease linearly with age, individuals who exhibit high levels of antisocial behavior in childhood often continue to do so throughout development. Genetic and nonshared environmental influences early in development also impact the magnitude of the decrease in antisocial behavior with age.

Summary: Family plays an important role in shaping one's creativity, as shown in the study where parental warmth and rejection were both positively associated with creativity.
