Combining parametric and non-parametric approach, variable & source -specific productivity changes and rebound effect of energy & environment

Zhuang Miao et al.

Summary: This paper develops a new method combining econometric model and Data Envelopment Analysis to investigate the impact mechanism of endogenous Total Factor Productivity on rebound effect. Empirical results show that the rebound effect can be adjusted by controlling different efficiency changes and technological progress.

Long-run pollution exposure and mortality: Evidence from the Acid Rain Program

Alan I. Barreca et al.

Summary: By utilizing the United States Acid Rain Program (ARP) as a natural experiment, the study estimates the effects of long-term pollution exposure on mortality. The installation of sulfur controls on power plants reduced pollution immediately, leading to a gradual decline in mortality rates, particularly beneficial for the 35-64 age group.

Dynamic scenario simulations of carbon emission peak in China's city-scale urban residential building sector through 2050

Tengfei Huo et al.

Summary: This study developed an integrated dynamic simulation model to explore the uncertainties of future trajectory of urban residential building carbon emissions (URBCE) using scenario analysis and Monte Carlo simulation. Results showed substantial disparities among different building end-uses in mitigating URBCE.

Will the urbanization process influence the peak of carbon emissions in the building sector? A dynamic scenario simulation

Tengfei Huo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of urbanization on China's carbon emissions from buildings through a comprehensive framework and dynamic simulation model. It predicts the peak emissions and trajectories of different building sectors, and finds that rural-urban migration plays a significant role in influencing the peaking time and emission peaks. This research provides valuable insights for the government in formulating effective strategies to achieve carbon peaking and neutrality goals.

Regulation adaptive strategy and bank efficiency: A network slacks-based measure with shared resources

Linlin Zhao et al.

Summary: Banks have two primary strategies for adapting to regulatory changes in the era of big data: natural disposability and managerial disposability. Efficiency differences between these two strategies lie in the driving force of inefficiencies - profitability stage for natural disposability, and an equal contribution from both stages for managerial disposability. In China, joint-stock commercial banks are more efficient overall, while state-owned commercial banks perform the worst in terms of overall efficiency and profitability stage efficiency.

Factors affecting changes of greenhouse gas emissions in Belt and Road countries

Changjian Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the factors influencing changes in greenhouse gas emissions in Belt and Road Initiative countries, finding that environmental and energy variables have a significant impact. N2O and CH4 emissions are primarily driven by economic growth, while energy cleanliness and emission intensity play a key role in emission reduction.
