Overestimating or underestimating communication findings? Comparing self-reported with log mobile data by data donation method

Summary: This study compared self-reported and log mobile phone usage data and found that people generally underestimated their mobile phone usage. Moreover, self-reported data may have no additional effect on or overestimate communication findings. Therefore, future research should go beyond self-reported data to enhance the accuracy of findings.
