Influence of an increased number of physical education lessons on the motor performance of adolescents-A non-interventional cohort study

Astrid Reif et al.

Summary: Increasing the amount of physical education lessons in school is being considered to boost youth physical activity levels. This study compared the motor performance of students who had additional physical education lessons without a specific intervention program to a control group with regular lessons. Results showed that while the observation group had higher scores overall, the control group showed more significant improvements in motor performance over time, with girls in the control group benefiting most from extra lessons. Membership in sports clubs also positively impacted motor performance.
