Pyrolysis kinetic parameters investigation of single and tri-component biomass: Models fitting via comparative model-free methods

Kiattikhoon Phuakpunk et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop a proper kinetics investigation method for pyrolysis reaction and compared three favorite model-free methods, showing that using Friedman method parameters in a conversion range of 0.1-0.6 gave conversion curves mostly in good agreement with experimental results. Mixing different biomasses showed varying effects on activation energy in different temperature ranges.

CaCO3 and air/steam effect on the gasification and biohydrogen performance of corn cob as received: Application in the Colombian Caribbean region

Rafael D. Gomez-Vasquez et al.

Summary: Corncob, as an abundant agro-industrial waste, can serve as a bioenergy feedstock for gasification without pretreatment in a downdraft gasifier. The evaluation of air-steam mixture and calcium carbonate as promoters showed improved performance in hydrogen production, syngas lower heating value, and cold gas efficiency. Statistical analysis revealed the significant effects of CaCO3 and steam on increasing H2 production and CGE.

Improving the Conversion of Biomass in Catalytic Pyrolysis via Intensification of Biomass-Catalyst Contact by Co-Pressing

Ishaka Muhammad et al.

Summary: The study aimed to enhance the catalyst-biomass contact via co-pressing as a pre-treatment method to achieve efficient pyrolysis of biomass and improve product quality. Results showed that catalytic pyrolysis of biomass components with HY and USY zeolites increased liquid yields, decreased coke/char yields, and produced desired range of product fractions.
