Consumer trust in organic food and organic certifications in four European countries

Summary: As the European organic market grows, consumers seek trusted, sustainable, and environmentally friendly products. Research has shifted to Asia despite organic food fraud in Europe. This study compared consumer trust in organic meat and vegetables across Germany, Italy, Poland, and the UK, revealing differences in trust and beliefs in organic produce authenticity. Consumers generally trust certified organic food but preferences vary by country. Germany and the UK show room for improvement in the organic food market.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of organic food company's ability image and social responsibility image on consumer trust and co-developing behavior. The results showed that both images positively affect consumer trust and co-developing behavior, with social responsibility image having a greater impact. Additionally, consumer trust and purchase intention play a significant mediating role in the relationship between corporate image and consumers' co-developing behavior.
