Depression and Anxiety Are Common Among Patients With Cirrhosis

Summary: This study examined the prevalence and risk factors for depression and anxiety among patients with cirrhosis in the United States. It found that nearly 1 in 6 patients with cirrhosis have moderately severe to severe depression and nearly half have moderate-severe anxiety. Self-reported poor health was identified as a significant risk factor for both depression and anxiety.

Psychological distress and self-management behaviours among patients with chronic hepatitis B receiving oral antiviral therapy

Summary: This study assessed the prevalence of psychological distress among chronic hepatitis B patients receiving oral antiviral therapy and its impact on self-management behaviors. Findings showed that factors such as age, gender, education level, and treatment duration were associated with depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms. Psychological distress was significantly associated with self-management behaviors, suggesting the importance of interventions targeting depression and anxiety symptoms to improve self-management among this population.
